DESCRIPTION:European Chips Skills Academy Summer School 2026: Inside the world of Microelectronics\n\n\n\nFrom the chips powering our smartphones to the technologies enabling autonomous vehicles\, biomedical devices\, and space exploration\, microelectronics is the invisible engine of the digital world.\nFrom August 23rd to August 28th\, 2026\, the University Residential Centre of the University of Bologna in Bertinoro\, Italy\, will host “ECS Summer School“. Organized by a collaboration of key European industry and research bodies: the European Chips Skills Academy (ECSA)\, AENEAS\, EPoSS (European Association on Smart Systems Integration)\, and INSIDE Industry Association\, this is an immersive Summer School on Microelectronics designed for undergraduate STEM students eager to explore how integrated circuits are designed\, manufactured\, and brought to life within intelligent systems.\nThrough lectures\, hands-on demonstrations\, and interactive activities\, participants will dive into semiconductor technologies\, integrated circuit design\, digital systems\, and embedded intelligence. Talks by leading academics\, researchers\, and industry experts will be complemented by career testimonies from young engineers\, offering real-world insights into professional pathways in microelectronics. \nEligibility: Undergraduate students who\, by the time of the Summer School\, will have completed at least two years of university studies and will have at least one year remaining before completing their degree are eligible to apply. Students from all fields of STEM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Mathematics) in a university based in the EU or associated country are eligible to apply. \nLanguage: A good knowledge of English is required\, as all activities will be held in English. \nSelection: Participants will be selected based on their CV\, a motivation letter\, academic transcripts\, and up to three letters of recommendation. Gender and geographical balance will be taken into account to ensure diversity among the selected students. \nA unique opportunity to discover the many facets of microelectronics and understand how tiny chips are shaping a smarter\, more connected future. \n
