SUMMARY:Online workshop on Quantum Enabling Technologies & Quantum Design
DESCRIPTION:The Chips Joint Undertaking is organising a workshop to present the two quantum technology topics planned for the 2026 calls. \nSix quantum pilot projects have been selected for funding in 2025. Their success depends on strong support from an enabling ecosystem. \n1. Quantum Enabling Technologies\nTo enable efficient\, low-latency control and scalable operation of quantum circuits\, innovative control and readout solutions are required. This includes the development of classical control chips capable of operating at cryogenic temperatures\, fast classical superconducting control technologies (e.g. single-flux-quantum logic\, nano-cryotron\, gate-actuated switches)\, as well as highly efficient single-photon detectors. These technologies are essential for quantum chips. \n2. Quantum Design\nIn parallel\, there is a clear need to develop a full-fledged design ecosystem for quantum chips. This includes design methodologies\, modelling and simulation tools\, co-design approaches across quantum\, cryogenic and classical layers\, and design flows that support manufacturability\, scalability and system-level integration. \nThe workshop will first present the scope and objectives of the two 2026 quantum topics\, and subsequently gather insights into the needs\, challenges and priorities of stakeholders active in enabling technologies and quantum design. \nThe workshop is open to all interested organisations and will feature a welcome from the European Commission and the Chips JU\, contributions from relevant industry associations\, and an interactive Q&A session.
